Hi, I'm Giulia
Project manager. Parent. Expat based in Rome, Italy.
Several years ago, I moved here with my family. What began as a short-term assignment gradually became a new chapter of living abroad.
How It Started
Moving to Italy wasn’t part of the long-term plan. Like many expat moves, it began as a work opportunity and quickly grew into something much larger.
The first months were demanding — unfamiliar systems, new routines, fresh expectations. Everyday tasks felt more complicated than anticipated.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, doubt, and plenty of learning on the job. Yet gradually, routines began to take shape. We found places that fit us, connected with other families, and started building something that felt steady.
Why I Built Silver Glow Atlas
Most information online was either corporate relocation guidance or surface-level tourism material. The missing piece was an honest, everyday family viewpoint.
This site aims to fill that gap — practical guidance drawn from real life in Italy.
What This Site Is About (And Isn't)
This site is:
- Practical experience from living in Italy
- Centered on family life and daily realities
- Updated whenever something truly changes
This site isn't:
- A tourism authority resource
- A sponsored review platform
- A generic travel blog
Looking Forward
Our stay in Italy continues, and the learning journey goes on. As long as this information remains helpful, I’ll continue to document what we learn.
If you have questions about family life in Rome or anywhere in Italy, please don't hesitate to contact me.
Best regards,
Giulia
